Target Industries

OUR BUSINESS CLIMATE AND LOCATION MAKE US ATTRACTIVE TO A VARIETY OF INDUSTRIES.

The Kansas economy has expanded from its original base in agribusiness into an economy with a diverse mix of professions. Today, our state’s largest employment sectors are manufacturing, services, and wholesale and retail trade. For the future, we are striving to be even more diverse in these industries and other select areas. Kansas is strengthening efforts to grow the business presence of several key industries such as, Alternative Energy, Distribution, Bioscience and Advanced Manufacturing.

For years, companies have taken advantage of our state’s low cost of living and cost of doing business; productive and educated workforce, central U.S. location and access to major transportation corridors and business-friendly policies. Our state’s leadership continues to approve new programs to help promote our state for existing as well as these targeted industries. New wind and solar bond financing, no property tax on new commercial machinery and equipment, and new funding for the attraction and development of bioscience companies are just a few new assets Kansas can offer companies in these markets.
