Receivables Management Firm to Create More Than 220 New Jobs in Lenexa, Kansas
St. Charles, Mo.-based Client Services, Inc. will invest $3.43 million with the opening of an operation in the Kansas City area. The company’s new receivables management center will initially create more than 175 new jobs, with growth in excess of 220 persons within two years.

Central Bag Company Relocates Business to Leavenworth
Leavenworth County Development Corporation (LCDC) is pleased to announce the location of a new business to Leavenworth. Central Bag Company is moving its business from Kansas City, Missouri to the former Hallmark Select Products building. After renovations to the building are complete, the company will bring its 17 existing employees to Leavenworth this year with plans to increase that number to 75 over the next 5 years.

RPS Financial expands operations in Kansas
The Park Place mixed-used project at 119th Street and Nall Avenue is bucking a slow development economy and building its second phase, buoyed by a major office tenant.
The $25 million expansion includes a 67,280-square-foot office and retail building, and a 415-space parking garage. The primary office tenant will be RPS Financial Group, a subsidiary of Northwestern Mutual. RPS will occupy the top floor of the three-story building and part of the second level.

J.P. Morgan Retirement Plan Services Announces Headquarters Move to Overland Park
The City of Overland Park officials received an early Christmas gift today with the announcement by J.P. Morgan Retirement Plan Services that it has signed a ten-year lease to occupy new headquarters on the Sprint Campus. The 175,000-squarefoot building at 6580 Sprint Parkway will house 800 Kansas City-based jobs and the move is scheduled for early 2011.

Sealy Recommits to Wyandotte County
The largest bedding manufacturer in North America and longtime Wyandotte County manufacturer, Sealy Mattress Company has announced plans to continue producing their world-famous mattresses in Kansas. Sealy will move its local operations to 435 Riverpark in July, 2010, securing in excess of 100 manufacturing jobs for the county.

The limousines manufactured by an area company are absent wet bars, colorful lighting and elaborate music systems. 945 new jobs coming to GM Fairfax plant in Kansas City, Kansas
A third shift and 945 new jobs are coming to General Motors’ Fairfax assembly plant in Kansas City, KS in January 2010. The third shift will come on top of 375 jobs that Fairfax added thanks to its production of the Buick LaCrosse this summer. The plant also builds the Chevrolet Malibu and the Saturn Aura. The plant's total employment will climb from 2,700 to more than 3,600 early next year.

Siemens Energy chooses Hutchinson as site of new wind turbine equipment factory
Siemens Energy has selected Hutchinson as the site of a new wind turbine equipment production facility, state and company officials announced today.
The operation is expected to create an estimated 400 green-collar jobs and will be the first large-scale wind turbine equipment factory in Kansas, which is ranked third in the nation for wind energy resource potential. Phase Out of Kansas Franchise Tax
The 2007 Kansas Legislature approved another new initiative this year to reduce the cost of doing business in this state. They passed a new law to phase out the franchise tax in Kansas over five years. The tax would be repealed altogether effective in tax year 2011.

Reduction of Unemployment Insurance Rates
Kansas made some significant reductions in 2007 to unemployment insurance rates for existing and new employers in Kansas. Existing employers who are current on their account, will see a reduction of 40% to 100% of their tax rate, depending on their rate category. New employers to Kansas will also enjoy a drop in their tax rate as the new rate for all employers, except the construction industry, is now 4%. Employers in the construction industry will pay 6%.
